Letter to Client (English to Spanish)

The following is a translation of a business letter from English to Spanish. Feel free to use it.

ENGLISH:

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Doe
000 Name street
City, St, Zip Code

Dear Joe and Jane:

Thank you for the opportunity to meet with you last Friday, and to present you our insurance plans. I look forward to answer any questions you have regarding the protection of your family. I will contact you on Monday.

I really hope you will honor me with the opportunity to help you, with your plan to secure your family’s financial future.

Sincerely,
Name of sender
Position of sender

SPANISH

Señor y Señora Apellido de la familia
000 Name street
City, St, Zip Code

Estimados José y María:

Gracias por la oportunidad que me dieron de reunirme con ustedes para presentarles nuestros planes de seguro. Espero, en el futuro, aclarar cualquier duda que tengan acerca de la seguridad financiera de su familia. Me comunicaré con ustedes el próximo lunes.

Espero me brinden la oportunidad de ayudarles en la implementación de sus planes para asegurar el futuro financiero de su familia.

Atentamente
Nombre del Emisor
Nombre del cargo en la compañía

OBSERVATIONS ON THIS TRANSLATION:

1. In Spanish the recipient uses only the family’s last name, not “Señor y Señora Jose XXXX”.
2. The word “and” used in the English version “to meet with you last Friday, and to present you our insurance plans” indicates a cause+effect relationship. In Spanish “and” is translated using the prepositional word “para”, because “and” that is “y” in Spanish does not show a cause+effect relationship.
3. The word “honor” exists in both languages, but it can become a false congnate when using it in a Spanish literal translation. The word more accepted in Spanish for a business letter like this one is “brinde”.
4. Spanish does not capitalize the days of the week.
